MEET MATILDA

(The Narrator is at the front of the class, alone)
-Narrator: Do you know who Matilda is? I´m sure you know. You know that she was a terrific student and that she knew lots of really complicated things. So you may think: “I want to be like her, I want to learn new things and pass the exams without effort”, right? But, what you do not know is this: for Matilda, it was extremely complicated to start the school. She has never ever gone to school before and she was the new girl in a school governed by Mrs. Trunchbull. And did she quit? No! She tried, and tried... well it is better if you see it.
(The Narrator is gone and Matilda and two classmates are in the classroom, talking)
-Matilda: Hi! I am new in the school. My name is Matilda, what is your name?
-Amber: Hi! I am Amber.
-Edward: Amber, do not speak with her. Mrs. Trunchbull does not approve new students.
-Amber: Edward, Mrs Trunchbull does not like kids, in general.
-Edward: True, but she is even crueler with the new ones, I do not want to be around when she arrives.
(Edward sits down far away from Matilda)
-Matilda: Mrs. Trunchbull? Is the Principal as bad as he say?
-Amber: Even worse! (Thinking) I am sorry Matilda, but Edward is right, she treats the new students even worse. I am going to sit over there, sorry.
-Matilda: (sad but understanding): Don´t worry.
(Everyone sits down and, suddenly. Mrs. Trunchbull appears. All the kids stands up together)
-All the kids: Good morning, Mrs Trunchbull! (And they sit down)
-Mrs Trunchbull (looking at them as if they were cockroaches) Ag, kids! Disgusting! And what is even more disgusting that kids? New kids in the school! Where is the new one?
(Matilda rises her hand and Mrs. Trunchbull looks at her in anger)
-Mrs. Trunchbull: You! What is your name, disgusting kid?
-Matilda: Matilda.
-Mrs Trunchbull: Matilda... What a horrible name! Do you know what do we do here with the kids that are disgusting, Matilda?
-Matilda: No, Mrs. Trunchbull.
- Mrs Trunchbull: Well, I locked them in a little, tiny, uncomfortable room, and there is where you are going now!
(She is going to grab Matilda´s arm, when a pencil fells to the floor. Mrs Trunchbull looks around with a red face)
- Mrs Trunchbull: Who is the owner of this pencil?

(None of the other children look at her...)
