(On stage: the narrator walking in circles
wearing a camera and a press pass, the wolf sitting down on a chair: legs
crossed, and the two sheep standing up together)
-Narrator:
I am sure you have heard about the story “The Boy who Cried Wolf” a millions of
times, and that now you know that telling lots of lies is not a good thing to
do. But, have you ever thought about that poor wolf and those poor sheep?
-Wolf:
No, I am sure they have not.
-Narrator:
(surprised) Ah, Mr. Wolf! There you are! Can we have a little chat? I am
interviewing some of the main characters of stories that are left to a second
place.
-Wolf:
Sure, we can. I can clarify some main points.
-Narrator:
Perfect. And have you seen the sheep?
-Sheep:
(at the same time) Here we are!
-Narrator:
(startled) Great! Great! Let´s start! Shall we? Mr Wolf, how would you value
your work in the story: “The Boy who Cried Wolf”?
-Wolf:
(while the narrator takes notes) Well, I think it hasn’t got the credit I need.
I did not even talk a little! Not like in Little Red Ridding Hood, at least.
And I want to say that, even though we appear to be bad and that you have to be
afraid of the Big Bad Wolf like the Three Little Pigs, we also have feelings
and the right to eat. I am sorry our foods are other animals, but people do eat
other animals, too and they are not bad. Am I correct?
-Narrator:
Perfectly clear. Now, sheep, How will you value your job in this story?
-Sheep 1:
It is terrible; we always appear to be dumb and foolish.
-Sheep 2:
So dull we don’t even have the right to be in The Bremen Town Musicians.
-Sheep 1: True! And we can be as smart as a donkey. And
we give wool and meet.
-Narrator:
Completely true. So, do you mind the wolf eating you?
-Sheep 2:
We do, but we have to accept Mother Nature. If the wolf is not there to eat us,
we are going to spread so much we are going to eat all the grass.
-Sheep 1:
And, without grass, we would starve to death anyway, so we need the wolf.
-Sheep 2:
As much as the rabbit need it or the little bird need the eagle.
-Narrator:
(with the mouth wide open) That is completely true! Food chains are completely
necessary to maintain the planet.
-Sheep 1:
That is the reason why we need to respect all the animals.
-Sheep 2:
From the little ant.
-Wolf:
To the Big Bad Wolf.
